Chicago Fringe Festival Yarnbomb
Yarnbomber: Anna Loux
Chicago, IL Installation Date: August 23-27
Deadline for Contributions: August 22 Address for Contributions: Annaloux c/o Dream Laboratory 5026 N. Lincoln Ave. Chicago, IL 60625 Contribution Restrictions: None This Yarn Bomb is a temporary street art installation intending to add color and texture to an otherwise ordinary drab urban environment. I’m organizing a collection of fiber art to be displayed around the neighborhood surrounding the venues involved in the Chicago Fringe Festival in Jefferson Park, Chicago. I am accepting any size/color/shape of crochet, knit or macramé fiber art. The collection will be pieced together to adorn lamp posts, bike racks, trees, and other public areas along the Chicago Fringe Festival route. The installation will be unobtrusive, and will not impede any traffic or right of way; however it will add color and whimsy and make passersby smile. After the installation is dismantled the pieces will be made into blankets that will be donated to animal rescue organizations throughout Chicago. Want to see your unfinished knit or crochet project on the Chicago streets? All submissions must arrive before Friday, August 22 to be included in the installation. Send via US Mail to: Annaloux c/o Dream Laboratory 5026 N. Lincoln Ave. Chicago, IL 60625 Include your IG handle or your FB if you want me to tag your piece. I will also need volunteers to help join pieces and do the installation August 23 - 27. Contact me if you’re interested.
